Gutter Cleaning
Expert Gutter Cleaning
Every year, tons of debris fall from canopy trees covering homes with leaves, seeds, and twigs. Once clogged, the gutters and downspouts on your home are quickly engulfed with even the slightest precipitation. Summer and winter storms typically compound this situation sending water down the walls and into the basement. Regular cleanup will prevent the damaging effects of overflowing gutters and downspouts. We specialize in yearly scheduled maintenance programs that reduce costs. Our technicians have the expertise and correct equipment necessary to clean your gutters without damaging them or your landscaping. See here for information about Wet Jet Pressure Washing

At least twice a year — once in late spring and again in late fall, after the leaves are down. In Northeast Ohio, where oak, maple, and pine canopy is heavy, homes surrounded by trees often need 3–4 cleanings a year. Pine needles and helicopter seeds clog faster than leaves alone, so a mid-summer check after spring storms is smart.
-
Clogged gutters overflow and dump water against the fascia, siding, and foundation — leading to wood rot, basement seepage, foundation cracks from freeze-thaw, ice dams, and mold. They also turn into nesting sites for mosquitoes, wasps, and rodents. Most homeowners insurance policies will deny claims tied to clogged-gutter water damage because it's classified as preventable maintenance neglect.

Late spring (May–June) after the maples drop their seeds and helicopters, and late fall (mid-November to early December) once oak and maple leaves are mostly down but before the first hard freeze. In Northeast Ohio, scheduling that final clean before mid-December is critical — once water in clogged gutters freezes, it forms ice dams that push under shingles and into the attic.

Yes — guards reduce cleaning frequency, but no system is 100% maintenance-free. Pine needles, shingle grit, seeds, and dirt still get through or pile on top, and debris that bypasses the guard is harder to spot. Most guarded homes still need a professional cleaning once a year. Wet Jet cleans gutters with guards in place; we lift, clear, flush, and reseat them as part of the service.

Start by flushing from the top with a garden hose. If water backs up, the clog is mid-pipe — try a plumber's snake from the bottom or disassemble the elbow at the base. Underground drain extensions usually need a drain bladder or professional jetting. Every Wet Jet gutter cleaning includes a downspout flush; if a downspout won't clear, we'll diagnose it on-site rather than pretend the gutter is "done."

Ground-based tools (telescoping hose wands, leaf-blower attachments, gutter-vac extensions) work for first-story homes with light debris, but they can't tell you whether the gutter is actually clear, sloped correctly, or pulling away from the fascia. The CDC reports ladder falls account for 160K+ ER visits a year — the main reason most NE Ohio homeowners hire it out is risk, not effort. Our crews work from rated ladders and flush every run before leaving.

No, high pressure inside the trough can split seams, pop sealant, bend hangers, and blast wet debris all over the roof and siding. Professional gutter cleaning is hand-removal of debris first, then a low-pressure flush to confirm flow. Pressure washing is appropriate for the outside of gutters (paired with house washing) and for clearing stubborn downspout clogs from below — not for blasting out the gutter trough itself.
